Ways To Volunteer

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central Florida is delighted that you are interested in giving your time, talents and energy to meet the needs of families with critically ill children receiving care at local area medical facilities. Volunteers are the heart of our organization and play a vital role in our operation.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Visiting Chef: Provide a home-cooked meal for the families staying in our House by purchasing enough food to serve for 40-50 people. Please limit group size to 10 volunteers serving breakfast or dinner at the House. Call our Front Desk volunteers at (352) 374-4404 to schedule a time.

House Angel: Help keep our house clean and tidy! Our Kitchen and Playroom Angels help straighten cabinets, put away dishes and toys, sanitize floors, counters, and toys, and clean refrigerators, microwaves, and furniture. Please limit group size to 10 volunteers. Contact Theresa Drews at tdrews@rmhcncf.org for more information.

Sweets and Treats Maker: Make cookies, cakes, cupcakes, brownies, fruit salads and yogurt parfaits, and/or goody bags for House guests. Please bring enough for 30 families. Kitchen tools and appliances are available for use. Please limit group size to 10 volunteers. Contact info@rmhcncf.org to schedule a time.

Group Volunteer Opportunities: Groups from the Community are always needed to assist us with volunteer projects and family activity projects. There is limited availability. Please contact Theresa Drews at tdrews@rmhcncf.org for more information.

Adopt-A-Wish List: Volunteers can chose a wish list item to collect for the house, or have a drive to collect items. Please see our current wish list on our website at www.rmhcncf.org and contact Theresa Drews at tdrews@rmhcncf.org for more information.

Long-Term Volunteer Opportunities

Long-term opportunities require an application, interview, acceptance, agency orientation, and on-the-job-training. No long-term opportunities are available at this time. Please check back later for more information and availability.

House Volunteer: This volunteer position handles all front desk business, which includes the following: answering phones, interacting with the public and the families in the House, and facilitating the arrival and departure of the House guests. This position requires an application, an interview, 8-16 hours of training and a commitment to volunteer a minimum of 8 hours per month.

*NOTE: (weekend volunteer shifts can be scheduled in 2 hour increments).

Family Room Volunteer:

The Family Room Volunteer position is at Shands UF Hospital, and works as a host in the Ronald McDonald Family Room®.  The volunteer  provides books and games for the children, puts out snacks and drinks, answers the phone and monitors the activities of the room. This volunteer position requires Shands UF volunteer orientation, a TB test, immunization records, on the job training shifts, and a commitment of volunteering at least 8 hours per month.

Maintenance Volunteer: The Maintenance Volunteer helps with inside and outside House maintenance projects. Including landscaping, general household repairs, organizing and cleaning the kitchens.
